3e411827f3 fbdev: omapfb: Add 'plane' value check
Function dispc_ovl_setup is not intended to work with the value OMAP_DSS_WB
of the enum parameter plane.

The value of this parameter is initialized in dss_init_overlays and in the
current state of the code it cannot take this value so it's not a real
problem.

For the purposes of defensive coding it wouldn't be superfluous to check
the parameter value, because some functions down the call stack process
this value correctly and some not.

For example, in dispc_ovl_setup_global_alpha it may lead to buffer
overflow.

Add check for this value.

b204c29e0d fbdev: omapfb: Remove writeback deadcode
Value of enum parameter 'plane' is initialized in dss_init_overlays and
cannot take the value OMAP_DSS_WB. Function dispc_ovl_setup_common could
be called with this value of parameter only from dispc_wb_setup, which has
never been used and has been removed in commit 4f55bb0380
("omapfb: Remove unused writeback code"). The code in the if-branch is
unreachable.

Remove unreachable branch.

3a48b38f48 fbdev: omapfb: Use syscon_regmap_lookup_by_phandle_args
Use syscon_regmap_lookup_by_phandle_args() which is a wrapper over
syscon_regmap_lookup_by_phandle() combined with getting the syscon
argument. Except simpler code this annotates within one line that given
phandle has arguments, so grepping for code would be easier.

There is also no real benefit in printing errors on missing syscon
argument, because this is done just too late: runtime check on
static/build-time data. Dtschema and Devicetree bindings offer the
static/build-time check for this already.

de124b61e1 fbdev: omapfb: Fix an OF node leak in dss_of_port_get_parent_device()
dss_of_port_get_parent_device() leaks an OF node reference when i >= 2
and struct device_node *np is present. Since of_get_next_parent()
obtains a reference of the returned OF node, call of_node_put() before
returning NULL.

This was found by an experimental verifier that I am developing, and no
runtime test was able to be performed due to that lack of actual
devices.

01ecc142ef fbdev: Switch back to struct platform_driver::remove()
After commit 0edb555a65 ("platform: Make platform_driver::remove()
return void") .remove() is (again) the right callback to implement for
platform drivers.

Convert all platform drivers below drivers/video/fbdev to use .remove(),
with the eventual goal to drop struct platform_driver::remove_new(). As
.remove() and .remove_new() have the same prototypes, conversion is done
by just changing the structure member name in the driver initializer.

While touching these files, make indention of the struct initializer
consistent in several files.

Use sysfs_emit_at() instead of snprintf() + custom logic.
Using sysfs_emit_at() is much more simple.

Also, sysfs_emit() is already used in this function, so using
sysfs_emit_at() is more consistent.

Also simplify the logic:
  - always add a space after an entry
  - change the last space into a '\n'

Finally it is easy to see that, given the size of cabc_modes, PAGE_SIZE

So better keep everything simple (and correct).

4551978bb5 backlight: Remove fb_blank from struct backlight_properties
Remove the field fb_blank from struct backlight_properties and remove
all code that still sets or reads it. Backlight blank status is now
tracked exclusively in struct backlight_properties.state.

The core backlight code keeps the fb_blank and state fields in sync,
but doesn't do anything else with fb_blank. Several drivers initialize
fb_blank to FB_BLANK_UNBLANK to enable the backlight. This is already
the default for the state field. So we can delete the fb_blank code
from core and drivers and rely on the state field.

76f92201b8 fbdev: Push pgprot_decrypted() into mmap implementations
If a driver sets struct fb_ops.fb_mmap, the fbdev core automatically
calls pgprot_decrypted(). But the default fb_mmap code doesn't handle
pgprot_decrypted().

Move the call to pgprot_decrypted() into each drivers' fb_mmap function.
This only concerns fb_mmap functions for system and DMA memory. For
I/O memory, which is the default case, nothing changes. The fb_mmap
for I/O-memory can later be moved into a helper as well.

DRM's fbdev emulation handles pgprot_decrypted() internally via the
Prime helpers. Fbdev doesn't have to do anything in this case. In
cases where DRM uses deferred I/O, this patch updates fb_mmap correctly.

2e2389ca5d fbdev: omapfb/tpd12s015: Convert to platform remove callback returning void
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by

from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks.

To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return

1fc9ea0580 fbdev: omapfb/hdmi: Don't put .remove() in .exit.text and drop suppress_bind_attrs
On today's platforms the memory savings of putting the remove function
in .exit isn't that relevant any more. It only matters for built-in
drivers and typically saves a few 100k.

The downside is that the driver cannot be unbound at runtime which is
ancient and also slightly complicates testing. Also it requires to mark
the driver struct with __refdata which is needed to suppress a (W=1)
modpost warning:

WARNING: modpost: drivers/video/fbdev/omap2/omapfb/displays/connector-hdmi: section mismatch in reference: hdmi_connector_driver+0x4 (section: .data) -> hdmic_remove (section: .exit.text)

To simplify matters, move the remove callback to .text and drop
.suppress_bind_attrs = true.

fc6699d62f fbdev: omapfb: Drop unused remove function
OMAP2_VRFB is a bool, so the vrfb driver can never be compiled as a
module. With that __exit_p(vrfb_remove) always evaluates to NULL and
vrfb_remove() is unused.

If the driver was compilable as a module, it would fail to build because
the type of vrfb_remove() isn't compatible with struct
platform_driver::remove(). (The former returns void, the latter int.)

b7ba90ac14 fbdev/omapfb: Initialize fb_ops to fbdev I/O-memory helpers
Initialize the instance of struct fb_ops with fbdev initializer
macros for framebuffers in I/O address space. Set the read/write,
draw and mmap callbacks to the correct implementation and avoid
implicit defaults. Also select the necessary I/O helpers in Kconfig.

Fbdev drivers sometimes rely on the callbacks being NULL for a
default implementation to be invoked; hence requiring the I/O
helpers to be built in any case. Setting all callbacks in all
drivers explicitly will allow to make the I/O helpers optional.
This benefits systems that do not use these functions.

No functional changes.
